Alarming situation: Septic tanks in many apartment buildings are becoming “time bombs”

📍 Ho Chi Minh City – Recently, many residents in high-rise apartment buildings have continuously reported the situation of smelly toilets, backflow of water and clogged toilets. The cause was determined to be from the common septic tank system that has been overloaded after many years of operation without being properly treated.

Full septic tanks – a haunting problem in apartment buildings
Septic tank systems in apartment buildings are designed with a certain capacity. After a long period of waste accumulation, if not properly treated or not periodically maintained, this system will be overloaded.

At that time, a series of consequences will occur:
🔹 The bad smell spreads throughout the apartment, especially on the lower floors - near the collection tank or technical well.
🔹 The toilet drains slowly, is clogged or even backs up wastewater, causing serious unsanitary conditions.
🔹 The drainage system is not working properly, easily clogged due to non-decomposed waste, especially grease and organic matter accumulated over time.
🔹 Impacts the health of residents, especially the elderly and children when exposed to a polluted environment.
🔹 Greatly affects the reputation of the investor and the building management board, especially in high-end apartment buildings, where residents have strict requirements on the quality of life. Traditional treatment costs – high, inconvenient, and unsustainable
The current popular solution is to periodically pump out septic tanks, but this method also has many limitations:

High cost, especially for large buildings or buildings with many blocks.

Affects residents' daily life: The suction truck must park within the building premises, pulling pipes through basements, creating odors, noise, and inconvenience.

Cannot handle the root cause of the problem, because fat and organic substances stuck in the pipe system still remain and continue to cause blockages.

In many cases, investors do not anticipate this problem when designing the system, or the management board does not have a long-term treatment plan, making the situation increasingly serious. What is the solution to the above problem?
Faced with the reality of full septic tanks causing a series of consequences such as bad odors, blockages and affecting the quality of life in apartment buildings, the question is: Is there any solution to solve the problem completely without having to periodically pump out the tank, which is inconvenient and costly?
